Before the Meeting Starts

When you arrive at the “join meeting” screen, you’ll see a microphone icon.

Click that mic icon to toggle mute on (so nobody can hear you) or off (mic is live). Teams will remember this setting the next time you join a meeting.
During the Meeting
Pro tip: If you prefer shortcuts, press Ctrl + Shift + M (Windows) or Command + Shift + M (Mac) to toggle mute/unmute fast.
