Zoom and Microsoft Teams both offer Breakout Rooms for dividing meeting participants into smaller groups. Zoom's version is established and widely used, while Teams offers deeper integration and additional features, potentially suiting different user needs. Both aim to enhance virtual collaboration and engagement.
Steps to Use Breakout Rooms in Teams
-
During a meeting, click on the More options button (three dots) and select Breakout rooms.
-
Choose the number of rooms you want to create and assign participants either manually or automatically.
-
Start the breakout sessions. Participants will be split into smaller groups for discussion, just like in Zoom.
-
After the breakout session, you can bring everyone back to the main meeting.
The Breakout Rooms feature is currently available for Teams users with a Microsoft 365 business or education subscription
