Auto Attendant Basics

Overview 

An Auto Attendant automatically answers incoming calls and provides callers with menu options.

Instead of immediately ringing a person, callers are presented with choices that help route them to the appropriate department or service.

Menu Options 

Examples include:

"Press 1 for Admissions."

"Press 2 for Financial Aid."

"Press 3 for Information Technology."

Callers make a selection using their phone keypad or voice responses if enabled.

Routing Logic 

Destinations may include:

  • Individual users
  • Call Queues
  • Voicemail
  • External phone numbers
